Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a safe and virtually painless non-medical method to eliminate varicose and spider veins. A sterile “sclerosing” solution is placed inside the walls of the vein causing them to collapse and dissolve. Because, blood flow is shifted to other healthy veins nearby, Sclerotherapy actually improves the circulation in your legs and can help relieve medical symptoms such as cramping, swelling and pain that sometimes accompany spider veins. The treatments usually last 30-45 minutes and you can resume normal activities immediately after your treatment.

Before Sclerotherapy Reminders

It may be helpful to bathe or shower before sclerotherapy
Please do not shave your legs the day of sclerotherapy treatment
Please do not use lotions or creams on your legs on the day of treatment
Bring loose fitting shorts to wear during sclerotherapy
Bring your compression stockings (unless you plan to get them on the day of the procedure $60)
Bring loose fitting pants to wear home after procedure
Wear shoes that work with stockings, not flip flops or open heeled shoes
Please do not take any aspirin, ibuprofen, anti-inflammatory medication, blood thinners, ginkgo bilboa, ginger, garlic, ginseng, vitamin E, ephedra, iron supplement or antibiotic for 1 week before sclerotherapy
If you use birth control, please discontinue use one month prior to sclerotherapy treatment
Eat a light meal or snack 1 ½ hours before your appointment
